LEAFY COUTURE

The understated importance of floristry

It’s often a great privilege to work along side vendors who share the same values as yourself. On this styled shoot I had the opportunity to do just that, all thanks to the organising of Sarah, the owner and founder of ‘Leafy Couture’.

Personally I find floristry to be one of the core pillars that make up a couples wedding day. It’s a little poetic really, something so beautiful which only lasts a couple of days at best. Yet so much hard work goes into making the displays. It reminds you that many things (like love) take time and effort to make it work.

A good florist also knows how to create a colour pallet as well as how to work with nature. Finding the right balance of Tulips, Roses and Lilies to create a beautiful display is a job in of itself, knowing the right balance is what distinguishes a good florist from a great one. I believe the same applies to videography. For example in this video you can see above, very little movement was needed in order to capture the actions of Sarah and her crew, sometimes that’s all that’s needed. The grandeur of Harewood house mixed with the vibrant flare of Leafy Coutures floristry creates an atmosphere which is perfect in of itself. I believed that a patient and reserved approach would create the best film and I’m happy to say that I believe that was the right choice.
