DISCRETION
(and its many benefits)
Particles behave differently when observed, so do we as humans. Knowing you are being filmed is a surreal experience for anyone who isn’t a public speaker/performer etc. I aim for couples to see each other, their guests, their florals, the band, their photographer and at the very end of the list, me.
There are a number of ways I achieve this:
Very small set up (having the appearance of a photographer to put guests at ease)
Low tripods during ceremonies
Positioning myself behind guests during the first dance
Cameras set up outside of speaker line of sight during speeches
Benefits for your photographer
After working with a number of photographers, I feel certain in saying that this approach helps them immensely. I consciously want your photographer to capture those perfect shots that you and your partner will treasure forever. I believe my job is to be on the side lines, providing space for your photographer to do their job rather than sticking close to them and possibly negatively influencing their work. Your weddings aren’t about anyone other than you and your partner (and of course your guests). I firmly believe that it should be a team effort from all your suppliers. So whilst I aim to capture the moments of your day, I consciously make sure that my efforts don’t overshadow the work of others.
This approach actually runs contrary to the typical ‘instagram-centric’ standard of filming, or at least in my opinion. Please feel free to contact me if you’re interested in visual examples of how I exercise discretion I’d be more than happy to go through things with you.
Thank you & Kind regards :)
